SYSTEM

SafeBaby® Solution tracks all aspects of the feeding cycle- from milk bank or mother, to bottle, to baby. Our system also validates that the right milk is being fed to the right child at the right time.  Watch our system in action.  SEE MORE

SAFE

Our system employs several safeguards that prevent misfeeds due to human error.  Each bottle of milk is labeled with a 2-D barcode unique to each patient.  It contains identifiers for the baby, its mother, and the source, volume, and nutritional content, validating that the correct milk is given to the correct child before the feed takes place.  If the wrong bottle is scanned, the system warns the nurse not to administer the feed.

SafeBaby® also pairs our software with tools like closed-system bottles and enteral feeding tubes, guaranteeing that the expressed breast milk, donor milk, or formula is never exposed to air.  Performing feeds on a closed system means nutrition can reach the patient without risk of tubing misconnections or bacterial contamination.

Finally, our system automatically applies expiration dates to each bottle label, eliminating exhaustive & time consuming searches for expiration fields or manual changes of dates, and most importantly, the risk of data entry errors.  Don’t wonder if you’re feeding a patient contaminated or expired milk- with SafeBaby®, you’ll know for sure.

INNOVATIVE

Our solution offers true EMR communication with HL7 compatibility, giving you the ability to send and receive messages from our milk inventory and patient feed database to your hospital’s EMR system. Each bottle’s 2-D barcode matches the code on the patient and mother’s wristbands, and contains vital information such as treatment and nutritional needs. Once a bottle is scanned, SafeBaby® will validate that the right milk is being fed to the right child at the right time, and will authorize, record, and automatically update the feed to each baby’s treatment chart, ensuring no vital information is lost and eliminating the need for the two-nurse check.

Using SafeBaby,® NICUs that partner with donor milk banks can now even streamline milk ordering with our revolutionary combination of 2-D barcoding and cloud technology. Donor banks can upload each tube of breastmilk’s information to their database of available supplies, and share this inventory with their client NICUs. These hospitals can then see what nutritional sources are currently available and can automatically request a new delivery when milk is getting low.

EFFICIENT AND COST-EFFECTIVE

Unlike many systems which require manual data entry, SafeBaby®‘s dynamic data entry setup allows for automated data transfer and accurate, rapid population of data fields.  Our 2-D barcode can be scanned, capturing the encoded information and inputting it directly into the system.  Changes in bottle location, expiration, volume, recipe, or patient treatment is all automatically uploaded to the baby’s EMR, streamlining the milk prep process and freeing nurses and technicians from redundant administrative tasks, so they can focus on providing hands-on care.

With SafeBaby®, you can even track secondary care tasks such as oral care (OIT), NPO, breastfeeds, swabs, and colostrum feeds, giving you far greater functionality than our competitors, and all while using a familiar and user-friendly interface.

In addition, these built-in safety and workflow features means that NICU staff will not only save time- but they won’t have to worry about harming a patient by administering a misfeed.  SafeBaby®‘s single label shows the current status of every milk container, so there’s no need to add a confusing and expensive array of multiple labels to a tiny bottle.  Before a feed, if the scanned bottle and baby’s barcodes don’t match, SafeBaby® flags the error and prevents the nurse from giving a preemie expired milk or milk that’s otherwise incompatible with the patient’s treatment plan.  Since every feed is validated and recorded, staff accountability is increased while increasing productivity.  If you want a smart method of preventing a medical malpractice suit while cutting down on wasted time and product, the SafeBaby® Solution is the best choice on the market.

SafeBaby Breastmilk Tracking for NICUs

While the rates of preterm birth and preemie mortality are declining, there are still many preemies born around the globe each year.  Although better prenatal care, nutrition, and access to medications decrease the number of preterm infants born in developed counties, the ultimate causes of early birth can’t always be prevented.  Sometimes, it isn’t always known why a baby was born too early.  Unfortunately, even healthy mothers with easy pregnancies have experienced a premature birth.

when every feed counts, count on safebabyParagon’s SafeBaby® team recognizes that these risks are still a very real part of parenthood and the medical landscape.  As healthcare professionals work tirelessly to shrink the preemie birth rate, our mission is to provide optimal support and nutrition to the preemies being treated today.  Using our patented feed management system, delicate preterm infants can avoid many of the risk factors associated with premature infant mortality.
